Welcome to the Ladies Work Remote blog!
Hi there, I’m Liz, the founder of Ladies Work Remote. Today marks the launch of the Ladies Work Remote blog. Woohoo! I’ll be chiming in every so often with blog posts, but for the most part you’ll be hearing from Nikki, whose bread and butter is communications. I’m excited to launch this blog with her at the helm!
To give you a little bit of background about the organization, I founded Ladies Work Remote back in 2017 in Washington, DC. I’m originally from Atlanta, and I had moved to DC earlier in the year. I was working full-time from home in a brand new city. There were… some challenges. Working from home has lots of pros, but there are also cons. I struggled with feeling isolated and setting boundaries to balance work time and home life.
I used Meetup to launch the first Ladies Work Remote coworking group to connect with other women who were also working remotely in DC. We met in various coffee shops all around the DC metro area. Some of the folks I met in those early days are still involved with the DC chapter. When I moved back to Atlanta and started a chapter here, Christina, Debbie and Danielle took over organizing the DC chapter of Ladies Work Remote. Since then, we’ve piloted chapters in Nashville, Detroit and Louisville.
Among many other things, 2020 also changed a lot of people’s work schedules. A lot more folks are now working from home. One goal with this blog is to speak to those folks who are new to working from home and have now found themselves perhaps overwhelmed with some of the cons that come with it. We also will celebrate the joys that come with remote work life, like flexibility and – hopefully someday soon – the ability to travel.
I’m looking forward to 2021, and hopefully a brighter year. Stay safe and healthy, and talk soon! If you want to reach out to the team, you can email us at info@ladiesworkremote.com or use our Contact form.
