Meet Our New Additions: LWR San Jose and LWR Twin Cities
A core part of the Ladies Work Remote mission is forming supportive, cooperative communities of women who are in the same remote boat. Whether these women are entrepreneurs and freelancers or remote employees, we’ve seen firsthand the benefits of forging a genuine connection with others in your community who face similar challenges to you, allowing us all to empower each other collectively.
Because we believe in this so strongly, we’re beyond thrilled to announce that we have two brand new chapters of Ladies Work Remote! This party just got a little bigger, and the more the merrier!
Without further ado, allow us to acquaint you with Ladies Work Remote San Jose and Ladies Work Remote Twin Cities.
Ladies Work Remote: San Jose
COVID-19 shook things up for Samantha Tan (same, girl, same). Though she was a full-time stay-at-home mom before the pandemic, the lockdowns gave her a nudge and encouraged her to launch her own graphic design business specializing in serving other women-owned businesses.
As much as she loved her new venture, Samantha discovered what many of us have at some point: remote work can be downright lonely. She was looking for ways to connect with other remote workers and had thought about starting an accountability group when she stumbled upon a Clubhouse coworking session hosted by Christina, our rockstar DC organizer.
Samantha fell in love with the coworking session, but when she discovered that there weren’t any chapters on the west coast, she did what all self-starting women do: she created a chapter of her own. She’s thrilled to continue growing and connecting with other remote workers in and around San Jose, and we’re equally thrilled to have her on our team.
Ladies Work Remote: Twin Cities
Jen Krol is one of those amazing women who’s making her way in the IT world, doing her thing and paving a path for future women to access any career they choose. She’s been working remotely in IT since 2018 - you know, back before the pandemic made it mainstream.
As much as Jen enjoyed the independence of remote work, she missed one aspect of her old office: the sense of community that comes from working around others. She enjoyed working in coffee shops (pre-pandemic, of course) and at her favorite Minneapolis coworking space, The Coven, but it’s just not the same when you aren’t actually getting to know the people around you.
That’s when she found out about Ladies Work Remote from the Ladies Get Paid Slack channel, and after checking it out, she knew the Twin Cities needed a dose of that energy. She’s now officially launched Ladies Work Remote Twin Cities and she’s excited to start building a professional community, sharing common interests with her fellow remote workers, and of course, enjoying the productivity of a co-working environment.
